Chapter Leadership

Our Executive Leadership Team for 2019-2020 will be comprised of the following roles.
(4 Leadership Opportunities)

  • President-Elect (2020-2021): Aids President and develops vision for chapter growth and continuity.
  • Executive Vice President: Aids President in coordinating activities and information between the chapter's functional teams.
  • Chapter Secretary: Keeps records of chapter decisions and activities including annual reporting to AMA National; interfaces with AMA National on key chapter matters and works with CEA Lead on awards submission.
  • Chapter Excellence Awards (CEA) Lead: Works with VP's to track and document activities for AMA's Chapter Excellence Awards
  • Immediate Past President: (current President)

VP & AVP Team Leadership

The AMA OC Board is structured with Vice Presidents for the following functional areas.  Vice Presidents are voting members of the Board, reporting to the President and EVP.  We are also seeking Assistant VPs to assist these leaders in establishing and achieving chapter goals.

  • VP Finance: Manages chapter finances and provides related reports; works with leaders to set and track functional area budgets; leads event budget/finance teams.
  • VP Programming: Responsible for providing dynamic, relevant programs to membership and the OC marketing community; leads and advises teams in coordinating monthly Speaker Series events, Lunch & Learn workshops, and networking mixers.
  • VP Special Events: Leads Special Events Teams in planning Annual Holiday Mixer, Marketing Tech Summit, and Annual Awards Dinner (new in 2018-2019).
  • VP Membership: Leads membership team in engaging chapter members in leadership opportunities; responsible for membership retention and semi-annual membership drives.
  • VP Sponsorship: Develops plan for soliciting chapter sponsors and event-specific sponsors; leads sponsorship team in developing relationships with sponsors and in fulfilling promises to sponsors
  • VP Career Development: Leads team in creating and coordinating programs and events specific to career advancement and job placement of AMA OC chapter members.
  • VP Executive Circle: Leads team in creating and coordinating quarterly programs specific to senior marketing executives.
  • VP Collegiate Relations: Leads team in liaising with college/university faculty and students.
  • VP Communications: Leads team in keeping AMA OC members and the marketing community informed of chapter activities; manages AMA OC brand and value perceptions.

Finance Team

AMA OC is seeking three persons to aid the VP and AVP Finance in managing chapter finances, specifically in managing and reporting on budgets for regular programs and special events.

Programs Team

AMA OC is seeking members to support the VP and AVP Programming in planning and coordinating three categories of chapter events; (1) Ten Speaker Series Events, (2) Four Quarterly Lunch & Learn Forums, and (3) Eleven Monthly [email protected] Networking Events.

Special Events Team

AMA OC is seeking members to support the VP and AVP Special Events in planning and coordinating (1) Annual Holiday Mixer, (2) Marketing Tech Summit, and (3) Awards Dinner & Strategy Showcase.

Membership Team

AMA OC is seeking members to support the VP and AVP Membership in planning and coordinating engagement, retention and growth of chapter membership.

  • VP Membership: Leads membership team in engaging chapter members in leadership opportunities; responsible for membership retention and semi-annual membership drives.
  • AVP Membership: Responsible for assisting and providing back-up to VP
  • Member Engagement: 10 person team responsible for keeping the pulse of the clubs via telephone and personal email once per month; includes seeking to engage member on teams of interest and engage members in chapter activities and programs
  • New Member Outreach:  4 person team that contacts and guides new members for first three months; introduces new members to chapter leaders at events and connect new members with Engagement Team
  • Membership Retention: 2-3 person team that engages with members starting 2-3 months ahead of renewal timeline to confirm and reinforce value and collect member feedback; designs membership survey
  • Membership Team Support: Communications Team Liaison(s)

Sponsorship Team

AMA OC is seeking members to support the VP and AVP Sponsorship in developing and building relationships with AMA OC sponsors and proactively creating opportunities for sponsorship revenues and gifts of services.

  • VP Sponsorship: Develops plan for soliciting chapter sponsors and event-specific sponsors; leads sponsorship team in developing relationships with sponsors and in fulfilling promises to sponsors

  • Sponsor Outreach Team: 6-8 person team that provides input on sponsor packages, connects with new and existing chapter and event sponsors, and works with programming and communication teams to ensure sponsor packages are fulfilled

Career Development Team

AMA OC is seeking members to support the VP and AVP Career Development in facilitating programs and activities related to career advancement of AMA OC chapter members.

  • VP Career Development: Responsible for leading team in creating and coordinating programs and events specific to career advancement and job placement of AMA OC chapter members
  • AVP Career Development: Responsible for assisting and providing back-up to VP
  • Career Development Series Team: 4-6 person team to plan and operate Career Development programming scheduled adjacent to Speaker Series Events; roles include Program Coordinators, Greeter/Registration Lead, Assistant Greeter, Guest Host, and Program Facilitators
  • Tech Summit Careers Team:  4-6 person team to work with Tech Summit Special Events Team in planning and executing programming for Career Track, including career fair operations
  • Job Board Coordinators: 2-3 persons responsible for maintaining AMA OC Chapter job openings database and creating awareness of the opportunities
  • Team Support: Collegiate Relations Liaison, Communications Team Liaison

Executive Circle Team

AMA OC is seeking members to support the VP and AVP Executive Circle in creating and coordinating quarterly programs specific to senior marketing executives.

Collegiate Relations Team

AMA OC is seeking members to support the VP and AVP Collegiate Relations in connecting and maintaining relationships with faculty and students at regional institutions of higher education.

  • VP Collegiate Relations: Leads team in liaising with college/university faculty and students
  • AVP Collegiate Relations: Responsible for assisting and providing back-up to VP
  • Collegiate Faculty Ambassadors: 3-4 persons to liaison with faculty in creating opportunities to share research and blend academic theory with practices shared in Speaker Series Programs
  • Collegiate Chapter Ambassadors: 3-4 persons, each to liaison with students for purpose of including student members at AMA OC functions and advocating for AMA OC support of student chapter activities
  • Membership Transition Team: 2-3 person team that works with Collegiate Chapter Ambassadors and Membership Team to identify marketers staying in Orange County post-graduation and seeks to transition these persons into AMA OC volunteer roles and chapter membership
  • Mentorship Coordinators: 2-3 person team that creates and modifies mentorship program and connects marketing majors with mentors
  • Team Support: Programming/Communications Team Liaison

Communications Team

AMA OC is seeking members to support the VP and AVP Communications in keeping AMA OC members and the marketing community informed of chapter activities and managing AMA OC brand and value perceptions.
